The natural greenhouse effect

Earth’s atmosphere behaves like a gigantic greenhouse, though it traps heat a different way. Gases high in the atmosphere, such as carbon dioxide and methane, behave like a giant piece of curved glass wrapped right round the planet. The Sun’s rays (mostly visible light and short-wavelength, high-energy ultraviolet radiation) pass straight through this greenhouse gas and warm up Earth

Questions to Ask a Beef Farmer

Are your animals raised on pasture? When cows are raised on pasture or in fields, they graze outdoors and have plenty of room to roam and a diversity of grasses to eat. Cows belong to a group of animals called ruminants, whose stomachs are best suited to digest grasses. Ideally, you should choose beef from cows grazed on pasture.

Are your animals fed anything else besides grass, hay and grass silage? On factory farms, feed may be supplemented with unsavory additives such as animal byproducts, rotten food, poultry manure and feathers, and even cement dust. The best answer to this question is that the cows ate only grass, hay, and silage. Beyond that, you want to be sure that the cows had a 100% vegetarian diet. Many farmers, including some sustainable farmers, supplement cows’ diet with corn. While this is still vegetarian feed, it’s important to remember that cows are not well adapted to eating corn, and a large amount of corn in a cow’s diet can make it sick.

How are your animals finished? “Finishing” is the weight-gaining process an animal undergoes as it’s readied for slaughter. If an animal is finished on pasture, it eats only grasses and hay up until slaughter and is 100% grass fed. If an animal is finished on grain, it means that for a certain amount of time before slaughter, it was fed grain. The most common grain used, and the hardest for a cow to digest, is corn. Many farmers maintain that grain gives meat the marbling and texture that most consumers are used to, but providing only grain to a cow will make it sick.”

What can we do to save our Earth? We can do a lot of things. Here you  have some ideas:

• plant trees, flowers and other plants
• walk, use bicycles or use other transportation than cars, motorcycles etc.
• don’t cut the trees
• don’t hunt the animals
• don’t throw plastic in the sea
• don’t polute phonic

Now, try to do everything that I said and tell your friends to do the same and  you’ll have a role! Everything that you do is important !!

World Vegan Day is an annual event celebrated on 1 November, by vegans around the world. The Day was established in 1994 by Louise Wallis, the President & Chair of The Vegan Society UK . Vegans across the world join together to celebrate animal rights. Animal advocates hold street stalls about veganism, host vegan potluck events, plant memorial trees for World Vegan Day and give away animal friendly vegan baking.

 World Vegan Day 2013 celebrations included butcher shop visits, vegan baking and soy milk giveaways. Vegan activists were included on the  TV’s news bulletins. Potluck dinner events were done in many countries .

The day of the Dead is original from Mexico but it is spread  in other cultures as well. It starts from 31 October until 2 November having connection with  Halloween. The  friends are gathering to pray for the members of the family that are dead and make collections of sweets and foods  and to leave gifts.

The celebration is different based on the place where it happens. In the United States, the celebration isn’t different from the one in Mexico but it has something more:   some people wearing masks carry signs honouring the dead and an urn in which people can place slips of paper with prayers on them to be burned. In Europe people take off a work day so that they can go at the cemetery to leave candles and flowers for the dead and give presents to the kids.

Here it is a belief that someone wrote: it presents the three-day celebration: On October 31, All Hallows Eve, the children make a children’s altar to invite the angelitos (spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit; November 1 is All Saints Day, and the adult spirits will come to visit; November 2 is All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives.

The three-day fiesta filled with marigolds, the flowers of the dead; muertos (the bread of the dead); sugar skulls; cardboard skeletons; tissue paper decorations; fruit and nuts; incense, and other traditional foods and decorations.
