A myth tells how the Sun down to Earth with a face of a beautiful girl. But a monster stole her and locked her in his palace. After that, the birds stopped singing, the children have forgotten how to play and the world fell in grief. Seeing what was happening with Sun, a brave young man went to the monster’s castle to release the beautiful girl. He searched for the castle a full year, and when it was found, called the monster at fair fight. The monster was defeated and Sun was released. She was raised back in the sky and illuminated the whole earth again. Spring came, the people regained their cheer, but the young fighter stayed in the monster’s castle after the big fight they had. And warm blood was spilled onto the snow until he left him breathless. In places where snow has melted, there grew a snowdrop. Since then, the world honours the memory of courageous young man with a thread linking two flowers: one white, the other red. The red colour symbolizes love for beauty and courage reminiscent of the boy and the white symbolizes the snowdrop, the first flower of spring.
